I think this old poem is profound, succinct, and yet very descriptive. It was written upon death of his daughter, but surely it has a much wider and deeper meaning.

    “The world of dew…” was actually written upon the death of a son, but he used it to express his sorrow over the death of a daughter later on in Ora ga haru, Spring of My Life.

  2. A wonderful image of how life’s very delicacy and transitory nature is its glory. And yet… there is that ”yet’!
