Genesee Reading Series (4-12-11)

The Genesee Reading Series, with impresario Wanda Schubmehl, continues to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Writers & Books with a program featuring Gail Hosking and Megan Staffel.

April showers bring . . . two writers of fiction, poetry, essay, and memoir. Join us for a memorable reading!

Gail HoskingGail Hosking is the author of the memoir, Snake’s Daughter: The Roads in and out of War. Her essays and poems have appeared in such places as Nimrod International, The Florida Review,The Fourth Genre, The NJ Star Ledger, and The Chattahoochee Review. She holds an MFA from Bennington College and teaches creative writing at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Recently, the lyrical essay captures her writing attention.

Megan StaffelMegan Staffel is the author of two novels, The Notebook of Lost Things Soho Press) and She Wanted Something Else (North Point Press), a collection of short stories, A Length of Wire and Other Stories (Pym-Randall Press), and Lessons in Another Language: A Novella and Stories (Four Way). Her short stories have appeared in The Northwest Review, Ploughshares, Gargoyle, The New England Review, The Seattle Review, and The Kansas Quarterly. Her stories have been short listed in Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize.

Megan has taught at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Vermont College. Currently, she teaches in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. She lives with her husband on an old dairy farm in a small town in western New York and has two adult children.


The Genesee Reading Series will be held at Writers & Books, located at 740 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607, on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 7:30 pm. Admission is $3 for members and $6 for the general public.
