Sean Thomas Dougherty, Teresa Peipins, and John Roche Reading (7-13-11)

On Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m.,  Sean Thomas Dougherty, Teresa Peipins, and John Roche will be giving a reading  at the wonderful book store in Buffalo –Talking Leaves Books, which is located at 3158 Main St., Buffalo, NY.

Sean Thomas DoughertySean Thomas Dougherty  is the author of nine books including Nightshift Belonging to Lorca, a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize and Except by Falling winner of the 2000 Pinyon Press Poetry Prize from Mesa State College.  His two most recent collections are Sasha Sings the Laundry on the Line and Broken Halleujahs, both from BOA Editions. His awards include two Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Fellowships in Poetry. Known for his electrifying performances, he has toured extensively across North America and Europe. He received an MFA in poetry from Syracuse University and lives in Erie, PA, where he teaches writing workshops.

Teresa PeipinsTeresa Peipins is a writer of Latvian descent from Western New York. Her chapbook, Box of Surprises, was published by Finishing Line Press. Her poetry, fiction, and articles have appeared in Barcelona Ink, The Barcelona Review, The Buffalo News, Conte, Pedestal, Poesia, and other literary magazines in the US and abroad. Her short story, “That Underwater Place,” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has taught English language at the University of Barcelona, the Open University of Catalonia, and presently at the International Institute of Buffalo.

John RocheJohn Roche is an Associate Professor of English at Rochester Institute of Technology. He earned his PhD from SUNY Buffalo, studying with Robert Creeley and John C. Clarke. His first two full-length poetry collections are Topicalities (2008) and On Conesus (2005), both from FootHills Publishing. His latest book of poems, Road Ghosts, is available from theenk Books, and is featured in Big Bridge #15. He also edited the collection Uncensored Songs for Sam Abrams (Spuyten Duyvil, 2008), co-edited with Patricia Roth Schwartz an anthology of poetry by inmates at Auburn Prison called Doing Time to Cleanse My Mind (FootHills, 2009), and edited Martha Rittenhouse Treichler’s Black Mountain to Crooked Lake: Poems 1948-2010, with a Memoir of Black Mountain College (FootHills, 2010). His poems have appeared in magazines like Yellow Medicine Review, Flurb, House Organ, Big Bridge, Jack Magazine, Interim, Intent, Woodstock Journal, Burning World, Grey Sparrow Journal, and in several anthologies.
