Happy New Year Just Poets!!!!

I want to wish everyone a very happy new year, and remind you all that with the new year comes some new events for Just Poets members!

Our first Reading/Open Mic of 2013 is scheduled for Thursday, January 10th at 7 P.M. at the Pittsford Barnes & Noble. Anita Augusen will be our host and Almeta Whitis our featured reader. The open mic will follow, so bring some poems to share.

Also, the first JP meeting of the year will be Saturday, January 12th at the St. John Fisher Campus Center at 1:30 P.M. New Just Poet member Aaron Fagan will be our guest speaker. And, as usual, following the presentation, there will be a poetry workshop. Remember to bring at least 10 copies of a poem you’ve been working on…

Aaron Fagan was born in Rochester, New York, in 1973 and was educated at Hampshire College and Syracuse University. He has lived in Chicago and New York City, serving as an Assistant Editor for Poetry Magazine and as a Copy & Research Editor for Scientific Americanrespectively. He is the author of two poetry collections Garage (Salt Publishing, Cambridge, 2007) and Echo Train (Salt Publishing, London, 2010) and he has recited his work for the Harold Clurman Poetry Reading Series at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Poems of his have appeared in a variety of journals including 5AM, The American Poetry Review, Boulevard, Brooklyn Review, Dossier, Link, Maggy, Poetry Daily, Shenandoah, Stand, Tuesday: An Art Project, TriQuarterly, and The Yale Review. He lives in Victor, New York.
